About ACRON - Introduction


ACRON, the Association of Clinical Research Organisations in the Netherlands, is an independent foundation dedicated to the promotion of clinical research.

The members are independent Clinical Research Organisations (CRO's) in the Netherlands. ACRON is committed to enhance the quality of clinical research in the Netherlands and to protect the professional interests of its members.

ACRON will be in touch with authorities with reference to legalisation, guidelines and regulations.

ACRON intends to achieve its' goals by functioning as a co-ordinating organisation for the members and by acting as a professional organisation for them.

ACRON will have intense contacts with the pharmaceutical industry, scientific and professional organisations and the press.

Established on February 21st, 1995 ACRON members are autonomous clinical research organisations (CRO's) in the Netherlands.

The ACRON Foundation is committed to achieve its aims principally by:

  • Representing CRO's in communications with national authorities, regulatory bodies and other organisations directly or indirectly involved in the activities of CRO's.
  • Strengthening the competitiveness of member CRO's in the international market.
  • Providing information on contract clinical research.
  • Contributing to discussions in guidelines and regulations concerning clinical research.
  • Providing advice regarding contracts with sponsors, investigators and volunteers. 
  • The formulation of codes of conduct.
  • Organising congresses, conferences and symposia on clinical research and research related issues.
